Course Overview
The CELTA course at Eton Institute, an authorised Cambridge English centre, provides a comprehensive and practical introduction to teaching English. The programme includes a minimum of 120 hours of tutor-led training, covering supervised lesson planning, assessed teaching practice, detailed feedback, peer observation, and observation of experienced ELT professionals.
In addition, candidates complete approximately 80 hours of independent study, including pre-course preparation, research, assignments, and lesson planning. With a maximum ratio of one tutor to six candidates and at least two tutors per course, Eton Institute ensures personalised support and high-quality training throughout your CELTA journey.
The CELTA course covers a range of topics:
- learners and teachers, and the teaching and learning context
- language analysis and awareness
- language skills: reading, listening, speaking and writing
- planning and resources for different teaching contexts
- developing teaching skills and professionalism
Assessment on the CELTA course at Eton Institute is continuous, with no final exam. Candidates are evaluated through teaching practice and written assignments. You will complete 6 hours of assessed teaching with adult learners at different levels, along with four written assignments focused on learner needs, language analysis, teaching skills, and classroom reflection. Throughout the course, trainers provide ongoing feedback and conduct one-to-one tutorials to support your progress and development.

There are four possible grades for CELTA:
- pass A
- pass B
- pass
- fail
At the end of your course you will be given a candidate report form, which will give your provisional grade. This will also say whether you took the course face-to-face, online or as a mix of face-to-face and online.
Cambridge English will issue your certificate when grades have been confirmed. Certificates are usually despatched up to eight weeks after the completion of the course. The certificate will state your name, grade, the centre number where you took the course and the date of the award.

3.Can non-native English speakers take the CELTA course?
Yes! CELTA is open to non- native English speakers. However, you must have a strong command of English, equivalent to IELTS 6.5 or CEFR C1 (Advanced level). If you are unsure of your level, you can take our FREE placement test.
4.Do I need teaching experience to enroll in CELTA?
No, CELTA is designed for beginners. You do not need any prior teaching experience to join the course.
