How is the IELTS test marked?

You will get a band score for each of the four English language skills mentioned. The sections of the IELTS test are scored separately using a band scale from 1 (lowest) to 9 (highest) and the final or overall band score is the average score you achieved (of each individual test section).

We are also a testing venue for the IELTS Examination. You can take the test at our location in Dubai.

Who needs to take it?

The IELTS exam is required if you are planning to study, work or migrate to English speaking countries. Apart from English-speaking countries, many other countries also accept IELTS as an International Standardized test of English Language proficiency for non-native English language speakers.

Let’s have a look at the two types of IELTS tests:

1. IELTS Academic:

If you’re looking at pursuing your higher education studies in acclaimed universities abroad, then take the IELTS Academic test to support your application (and education). It basically assesses whether your English language proficiency is appropriate for academic purposes and how well-equipped you are to begin your program. The academic IELTS is globally accepted by a number of renowned universities and colleges.

2. IELTS General:

Aspirants who want to relocate to English-speaking countries for professional purposes need to take the IELTS General Training test. It is also a requirement for individuals who want to migrate to countries such as Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.

Are you ready for your IELTS Exam?

Our preparation courses will give you an idea of what to expect!

Follow our tips below to help you prepare and ace the IELTS Exam:

1. Use New Words

Using new words frequently will help you to learn to speak English fluently. Research shows that it takes from 10 to 20 repetitions to make a word part of your daily vocabulary.

2. Read (A LOT!)

Have a good English-English dictionary in hand and look up the meanings of new words.

Warning: do not translate back to your language.

3. Test Yourself

Practice with sample questions and treat them as if you’re sitting the actual exam. Time yourself as you complete them. This will enormously develop your test technique and familiarize you with the test format.

4. Pay Attention to Spelling & Punctuation

This will cost you points. Spelling and punctuation are super important throughout the entire IELTS test. Make sure you reread your answers for misspelled words. Remember, any answer that is not spelled correctly will be marked wrong.

5. Improve your Pronunciation & Listening Skills

How? Listen to how English native speakers pronounce words and phrases and try to imitate them.

These quick helpful tips will equip you to be ready for the exam. However, your success rate depends on your commitment and practice. A combination of the two will give you a great chance of getting the desired grade for IELTS.
