Press Release:

Eton Institute Climbs Mont Blanc to Raise Awareness for Breast CancerEton Institute’s CEO has taken on the challenge to conquer Mont Blanc, to raise awareness and promote education about Breast Cancer

Dubai, 20th August 2014 – From the top of its 4810 metres, Mont Blanc is the highest mountain in the Alps and in Western Europe. Mont Blanc, also known as ‘The roof of Europe’, is considered to be one of the highest and toughest peaks to climb. The first ascent was done by two French alpinists in 1786, marking the beginning of modern mountaineering. As part of the Summer for Change charitable initiative, Eton Institute, the UAE’s largest training and development centre, has set itself an ambitious challenge to climb Mont Blanc to raise awareness about breast cancer. Last year the Institute’s CEO conquered the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro in a bid to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.

This expedition will start on the 26th of August and end on the 1st September, and includes four days of training and preparation, followed by the full climb of approximately twenty hours. Mont Blanc is known to be a tough alpine challenge that tests an individual’s physical and mental endurance.  Altitude related health problems, extreme weather conditions and steep rocky mountainsides are just a few reasons that make this climb exceptionally difficult. Mont Blanc counts many incredible stories, such as a climber’s body found after missing for 32 years, and the discovery of hidden valuables of people that tragically died on the mountain over half a century ago. The recent sad news about climbers attempting to reach the summit confirms the fact that Mont Blanc has the highest fatality rate compared to any other mountain in Europe.

“The initiative we have taken through the Mont Blanc climb is to raise awareness for breast cancer which in turn will help improve the quality of life and care given to cancer patients, an on-going mission of the National Breast Cancer Foundation for whom we are collecting funds,†commented Hana Fuchs, Marketing Director at Eton Institute. “We see this climb as an opportunity to show our support and unity to victims of the disease, and to encourage people to learn about prevention and early detection techniques. This mission is an inspiration to us all,†she added.

Eton Institute urges the community to be a part of this cause and help raise funds and awareness for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. To help make a difference, visit www.etoninstitute.com/ae/summer-for-change
