In partnership with the Community Authority Development (CDA), Eton Institute held an interactive workshop to the community of workers to raise awareness about Arabic language and culture. Dubai, 15 June 2016 According to the statistics released by the Permanent Committee for Labour Affairs (PCLA) earlier this year, there are more than 500,000 unskilled labourers that provide service in Dubai’s construction industry. Eton Institute teamed up with the Community Authority Development to reach out to the growing population of Dubai’s labour force and enrich their knowledge and skills of the Arabic language and local culture. The CDA’s program called Honour Labour aims to enhance the lifestyle and skills of the labourers that will help them engage more with the community. Working hand in hand with licensed social clubs, private sectors, and other government entities in Dubai, the CDA organizes cultural activities and educational workshops that raise awareness about their rights and duties as part of Dubai’s development as an emirate.Eton Institute, a leading international language and professional development training provider, collaborated with the CDA to host a 1-hour free introductory Arabic course with one of Eton Institute’s native Arabic instructor on 10th of June 2016 at the Jabel Ali Labour Camp – Khansaheb. ‘Collaborating with the CDA on this initiative underscores both ours and the Government of Dubai’s commitment to actively contributing to the betterment of the communities in which we operate through our shared vision accessible learning for all. We are delighted to bring language learning to Dubai’s dedicated labour force, and most importantly see their eagerness to learn, commented Mark Abi-Aad, Corporate Manager at Eton Institute. The workshop discussed the common Arabic words and phrases used in daily conversation. It also featured the do’s and don’ts of Ramadan that promote the etiquette observed in the UAE. Eton Institute & the CDA will deliver three other workshops, in different labour camps throughout the Holy Month of Ramadan.
